Welcome to Sequoia Flight School’s Charter & Cargo Pilot Basic Training

This course is laid out in sections designed to get you flying your simulator, as opposed to learning to be a pilot. In this course you start flying immediately and learn as you go.

Charter & Cargo Pilot Basic Training is comprised of 5 lessons in Ground School and 5 missions each in the Cessna 172 and 182 before you transition up into the Cessna 208, where you’ll complete 5 more missions and your Check Rides.

KSSI, St Simons Island, Georgia, USA, is home base for the Charter & Cargo Pilot Basic Training, where you’ll make short training flights to local airports.

Course Syllabus

To graduate from Charter & Cargo Pilot Basic Training;

1. Register for the school website: https://sequoiaflightschool.com/register or click the box to the right
2. Enroll in the Charter & Cargo Pilot Basic Training Course: Click the button that says ‘Start Course’
3. Complete the required modules;
   1. Ground School: Airport and ATC procedures, how planes work, etc.
   2. Cessna 172 Flight Training: 5 missions that cover various aspects of flying
   3. Cessna 182 Flight Training: 5 missions to transition into complex aircraft
   4. Cessna 208 Transition Training: 5 missions to transition into the 208 as a Charter/Cargo Pilot.
   5. Complete the Course Check Ride

NOTE: Sequoia Flight School lessons are all open to the public so anyone can audit the course for free with no registration.

Ground School

In Ground School you’ll learn about planes, airports, weather, instruments and procedures and how it all works together.

Basic Flight Training Cessna 172

In Basic Flight Training you’ll meet the Cessna 172 and learn all about it. By the end of this section you’ll have an understanding of the Cessna air frame and how it works in the simulator.

Missions: Fly 5 multi-leg missions dropping passengers and cargo on short hops in the Central Valley and earn while you learn.

Complex Aircraft: Cessna 182

Next you’ll meet the Cessna 182 and learn all about it. In the 182 you’ll learn more about landing gear, autopilots, GPS, and other more complex aircraft systems.

Missions: Fly 5 longer, more complex flights as you learn the new aircraft systems as well as landing on grass fields and dirt strips.

Cessna 208 Transition

In the real world the C208 requires a commercial license. The Cessna 208 is the workhorse of the Cessna fleet. In the FSE world you can jump straight to flying 13 passengers and hauling much more cargo. Watch the videos and log the training flights.

Missions: Fly 5  Charter or Cargo runs delivering fuel, supplies and passengers to Sequoia Flight School FBO’s.

Checkride

For your final test watch the check ride videos and log your checkride flight(s).
